A target audience is a general group of people that something is aimed to whether it is film or clothing. In marketing a target audience is key as the consumer would need to know if the product fit their criteria.
Why are target audiences useful to films?
Target audiences are useful to films as they provide the viewers with what would entertain them happy. If films didn't have trailers or age guides people would end up watching up something with no interest to them.
Different genres.
I believe that animation would most suitable for young girls and boys all over the world as they are still developing and believe in fairytales and myths.
Action would be more suitable for 12A mainly boys as they find these type of films interesting and thrilling to watch such as Iron man or Taken.
Horror's age viewings usually fluctuate, depending on how scary a film may be or if includes graphic content but this genre is loved by many people including both male and female. The age viewings are always 15 or 18.
